Description

This dark nebula, nicknamed the Dark Wolf Nebula, is located 500 light years away in the constellation of Lupus (the Wolf) at a declination of -34 degrees.  The nebula is named for the constellation in which it is located and is part of the Lupus molecular cloud.

The nebula spans 2 degrees in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a width of 15 light years.  The image is a RASA 2 panel mosaic.

The bright reflection nebula just left of image center is GN 15.42.0.
